Greetings!
I am a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh, and the Personal Chair of Geometry and Physics. I'm a member of the Hodge Institute, the Edinburgh Mathematical Physics Group, and the Higgs Centre.
My research group and I develop mathematical techniques to access quantum physics (quantum field theory and string theory), while using inspiration from physics to predict new connections and results in mathematics. A few current interests include
the algebra and geometry of supersymmetric gauge theories
in particular, Homological 3d Mirror Symmetry
derived algebraic geometry and higher algebraic structures in QFT
topological quantum field theories
interactions between QFT and knot theory
I am supported by an EPSRC Open Fellowship and am part of an STFC Consolidated Grant in Particle Physics Theory.
Prior to summer 2020, I worked at UC Davis. Here's my previous website.
While thinking about math and physics, I can sometimes be found hiking and foraging. I also enjoy playing music; if you'd like to play with a violinist, please get in touch.
